What we cut open

The machinery of the modern world

How does a tap of your card move money in a couple of seconds? What actually carries the internet across an ocean? Why does a power grid have to balance itself every single second?

The story it tells

Everything you use runs on something you never see.

Every video is one system, told the same way, so that by its end the thing you touch every day looks different.

  1. A detail you have touched

It starts with something ordinary, a card tap, a glass of water, a light switch, and a fact about it that does not sound right.

  2. The machine behind it

Then it cuts the system open and follows it step by step, in flat diagrams drawn after the real thing.

  3. Why it matters to you

It ends on what the system means for you: why it works the way it does, and sometimes what to do when it fails.

Two formats

A minute, or a quarter of an hour

Shorts

Vertical, about a minute.

  • Told calmly enough to follow.
  • A new one every day.

Deep dives

Long-form, about fifteen minutes.

  • One system taken apart properly, in chapters.
  • Where it came from, how it works, what goes wrong, who pays and what comes next.
  • Every source in the description.

How it is made

No faces, no filler, no hype.

Drawn in code

Every frame is animated by code we write, in one calm palette, and the music under it is made the same way. Nothing is stock footage.

Researched first

A video is written from published sources and checked line by line. What is simplified is said to be.

Paced to follow

An unhurried voice, pictures that stay long enough to read, and one idea at a time.
